All About Me

My favorite things are art and pop culture. As a result, many of my hobbies are related to both of those things.

The main things I enjoy are music and fashion, which conjoin the two aforementioned topics. My favorite brands are Mugler, Maison Margiela, and Diesel. I spend a lot of my time watching fashion shows from these brands. A dream of mine is to become a stylist or creative director of some kind. I also enjoy thrifting clothes and looking for vintage pieces online. My favorite periods for fashion and general inspiration are the 90s and 2000s.

As a result, I often reference iconic moments in those eras in my art. I make a lot of different kinds of art. I have been painting and drawing traditionally for most of my life. Recently, however, I’ve been drawing digitally more often. I prefer it because you have an endless amount of colors and brushes you can use and you can correct mistakes easily.

I also play the bass guitar from time to time. I started playing in eighth grade and picked it up again this summer. One of my dreams is to be a musician because I love music so much. My favorite genres are rock, neo-soul, r & b, and rap but I’m open to all types of music. Some of my favorite artists of all time are Alice in Chains, Snoop Dogg, Mac Miller, Erykah Badu, Frank Ocean, and SZA. Though many of these artists are very different from each other, they share two things in common: compelling lyricism and interesting production. From the grimey sound of the early grunge movement in the 90s to the smooth and effortless wordplay of the same era in both west coast rap and neo-soul, inspiration and innovation can be found throughout. I'm excited to bring these elements into my work in this course.

On the Nice List

Upon further inspection, our footage wasn’t as bad as I described. We had a lot of salvageable shots. As a result, we are going to keep the footage we have already taken. However, we are going to go back to the park to take some simple shots to make the beginning less choppy. Thankfully, we won’t have to pay to be in the area of the park we have to film this at.  Plans to reshoot went well. We got the basic shots we needed to fill out certain spots in the video. Now, it’s time to edit. We choose to split up the work between us. This was to ensure that each of us had a say in the vision for the video. Splitting the work also alleviates the burden of editing it all by one’s self.  Unfortunately, the equipment I was using didn’t allow me to work with computer software to edit the video. The laptop I had was broken and unreliable, so I went back to the editing software I used in the previous project. I started by putting all the takes we took in a big project and muting each...

Get Your Popcorn.. Let’s Watch A Movie

Now that the group has chosen what genre and concept we want our final project to be, it’s time to watch a few films that follow the conventions of the sports genre. Today’s film will be Creed 2, directed by Steven Caple Jr. and starring Michael B. Jordan alongside Sylvester Stallone. What elements (Conventions) of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this  movie have?   The elements of this picture that relate to our genre would be that it is louder, grander, and greater than the first one. By maintaining an emphasis on the humanity of its main characters, it is able to correct itself. More than any punch delivered in the ring, whether Rocky will see his son again and the tribulations of the recent Creed couple are the subjects of greater suspense. The boxing scenes are fascinating and fun. Also, it gives fans a feast of entertainment.  What elements (Conventions) of the genre did the movie have that you like?  I enjoy how Adonis and Viktor...

Now Let’s Really Plan This Out

Location: Filming at the beach would provide stunning visuals with the backdrop of the ocean and sand. The players could be shown diving and rolling on the soft sand to make intense plays. A park would offer a more relaxed and peaceful atmosphere, with trees and greenery in the background, providing a contrast to the fierce competition on the court. Filming at the gym would allow for intense close-ups of the players as they sweat and strain to make every move count, with the sounds of the game echoing off the walls. The contrast of these three locations would add to the dynamic storytelling of a volleyball movie. Participants: As the director and editor, I will be responsible for overseeing the creative vision and execution of the film. I will work closely with the other members of the production team to plan out the visual style, character development, and overall tone of the film. I will also work with the actors to ensure they understand their roles and deliver the best perfor...
