Title Design and Sequence

After reviewing several opening scenes for films that fall under the sports genre, the time had come for the group to design our own title sequence. When doing this, I took into account all the things I learned during the research process. I found that there were several key features that needed to be included in the title design an sequence. The most important feature was the fact that the title design and sequence had to convey the overall mood and theme of the project. Our project is focused on the relationship between two teen boys and their different relationships with the sport volleyball. While the sport is the most important aspect of the project, there are comedic elements as it is meant for teenagers. Based on this information, the title sequence should feature fun, light hearted motifs like physical effects and fun sound.

Additionally, the title design and sequence should also reflect the intensity of the sport. To achieve this, the text will appear on the screen slowly and then quickly fly off in the opposite direction. This is to mimic the text being hit similarly to a volleyball. To further drive this home, the text will be white with gray lining like the average volleyball. The final title will appear either on a volleyball net or scoreboard.

The characters should be introduced as if the audience was reading their playing stats. We can use common motifs like Max Preps or sports based shows and websites like ESPN. Max Preps is a website for high school sports that shows the stats of players and schools. Each actor could be filmed looking straight on as their statistics and name fly past them.

At this moment in time, the title our project is undecided. There are several ideas being discussed, but we are far too early in the planning process to have a title. As the pitch develops, a fitting title will become more apparent. Depending on how long the title is, the title sequence may change. Accommodating the length of the title may prove to be a challenge, but it also grants us more opportunity to be creative with the title sequence.

No One Likes a Third Wheel, But Now We’re a Car!

For the previous projects, I have continuously worked with Joshua Newell and Aidan Jones. I have found that working with them has produced consistently good work. We are able to communicate well and our schedules coincide, allowing us to get a lot of work done. While all of this is true, our group decided to add another member to the mix. We have decided to team up with Randy Sweeting.     There were several reasons why we wanted to add another member to the group. Most of them came from our last project. When filming the music video, we had trouble splitting the work load. It was a bigger project than the first, and we wanted to include more actors. This posed a challenge to the three of us, because we would all have to be present on camera. Additionally, we wanted a different perspective. The three of us agree on a lot of things. As a result, we sometimes miss out on better ideas or more efficient practices because we are so likeminded.  ...

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

For our first major assignment, we're working on a commercial. To get the job done I picked two of my good friends that I know can produce good work - Joshua Newell and Aidan Jones. Both are amazing at conjuring up creative ideas.       Joshua will be mainly handling the acting and props for the commercial. He's perfect for conveying the kind of emotion for this project. As my brother, I know he can handle a heavy workload and still create excellent work.  Joshua      My other teammate, Aidan, is just as competent. A creative and great student, Aidan will be handling most of the project's directing. Aidan is a big thinker who can get the job done efficiently. His perspective will add an invaluable quality to our work.  Aidan      Lastly, I will be doing all of the major editing for the project. I have some experience with free programs and am excited to bring that to the project. I will also be aiding...

Get Your Popcorn.. Let’s Watch A Movie

Now that the group has chosen what genre and concept we want our final project to be, it’s time to watch a few films that follow the conventions of the sports genre. Today’s film will be Creed 2, directed by Steven Caple Jr. and starring Michael B. Jordan alongside Sylvester Stallone. What elements (Conventions) of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this  movie have?   The elements of this picture that relate to our genre would be that it is louder, grander, and greater than the first one. By maintaining an emphasis on the humanity of its main characters, it is able to correct itself. More than any punch delivered in the ring, whether Rocky will see his son again and the tribulations of the recent Creed couple are the subjects of greater suspense. The boxing scenes are fascinating and fun. Also, it gives fans a feast of entertainment.  What elements (Conventions) of the genre did the movie have that you like?  I enjoy how Adonis and Viktor...
