A Deep Dive Into the Into the Creative Mind of Dr.Dre

After a period of deliberation, my group decided to make a commercial for the headphones brand Beats by Dre. Created by well-known music producer Dr.Dre, the company was founded in 2006. In the commercial, the audience will see the battery life and sound quality of Beats headphones used in everyday life. It will feature the headphones being used as part of an everyday routine to showcase the capabilities of the headphone.  I have made these observations based on the various ads they have produced over the years.

-Depending on the scene, clothes are generally casual or athletic when required as the headphones were designed for people of various lifestyles.

-Props in Beats commercials are usually minimal to really show the headphones.  A lot of ads are just the athlete or person going through a workout or other routines with their headphones. Props include but are not limited to various beats products, laptops, sports equipment, and vehicles.

- The audio for the commercial is going to include diegetic sound and non-diegetic sound. The different types of sound are going to demonstrate the noise cancellation ability of the headphones. It will also show transitions from public spaces to more isolated ones, along with the sound quality of music when heard from Beats products.

-The logo for the brand will be displayed at the end of the commercial and will be seen on the headphones throughout the commercial.

-During the commercial, the Beats Solo 3 headphones will be visible somewhere in every shot whether it's being used or hanging around the actor's neck.

-Commercials often show what you can do with the product and how you can use it to show its convenience and bring in more customers

-While conducting research for this commercial, Beats used a lot of tracking and panning shots to follow people using their headphones. Close-ups and cutting between scenes were also used. Low angles were also used to show the power that athlete has. They used various athletes from different sports to show people that their favorite player was using that product.

-Some commercials used just the sounds in a gym or locker room while others used crowds and belligerent fans. The actors were sometimes shown using headphones to block out the "haters" and people against them.

-The lighting in the commercials varied as well. For the more outdoors commercials, natural lighting was used and for the ones inside they used more artificial light like ring lights and overhead lights.

No One Likes a Third Wheel, But Now We’re a Car!

For the previous projects, I have continuously worked with Joshua Newell and Aidan Jones. I have found that working with them has produced consistently good work. We are able to communicate well and our schedules coincide, allowing us to get a lot of work done. While all of this is true, our group decided to add another member to the mix. We have decided to team up with Randy Sweeting.     There were several reasons why we wanted to add another member to the group. Most of them came from our last project. When filming the music video, we had trouble splitting the work load. It was a bigger project than the first, and we wanted to include more actors. This posed a challenge to the three of us, because we would all have to be present on camera. Additionally, we wanted a different perspective. The three of us agree on a lot of things. As a result, we sometimes miss out on better ideas or more efficient practices because we are so likeminded.  ...

Get Your Popcorn.. Let’s Watch A Movie

Now that the group has chosen what genre and concept we want our final project to be, it’s time to watch a few films that follow the conventions of the sports genre. Today’s film will be Creed 2, directed by Steven Caple Jr. and starring Michael B. Jordan alongside Sylvester Stallone. What elements (Conventions) of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this  movie have?   The elements of this picture that relate to our genre would be that it is louder, grander, and greater than the first one. By maintaining an emphasis on the humanity of its main characters, it is able to correct itself. More than any punch delivered in the ring, whether Rocky will see his son again and the tribulations of the recent Creed couple are the subjects of greater suspense. The boxing scenes are fascinating and fun. Also, it gives fans a feast of entertainment.  What elements (Conventions) of the genre did the movie have that you like?  I enjoy how Adonis and Viktor...

On the Nice List

Upon further inspection, our footage wasn’t as bad as I described. We had a lot of salvageable shots. As a result, we are going to keep the footage we have already taken. However, we are going to go back to the park to take some simple shots to make the beginning less choppy. Thankfully, we won’t have to pay to be in the area of the park we have to film this at.  Plans to reshoot went well. We got the basic shots we needed to fill out certain spots in the video. Now, it’s time to edit. We choose to split up the work between us. This was to ensure that each of us had a say in the vision for the video. Splitting the work also alleviates the burden of editing it all by one’s self.  Unfortunately, the equipment I was using didn’t allow me to work with computer software to edit the video. The laptop I had was broken and unreliable, so I went back to the editing software I used in the previous project. I started by putting all the takes we took in a big project and muting each...
