A Much Needed Break

Now that Thanksgiving break is over, I feel an explanation is owed for the lack of work my team did. The group was very busy this week. Each of us had jobs which we needed to be at. We were also celebrating the holiday with our family members, which kept us occupied for most of the break. Even though we did not film, we did get a lot of discussion done about the project. We simplified the vision we had for the music video on a whole. Using the rubric, we picked out specific shots that were required both for rules and for the flow of the video.

After much deliberation, my group decided that we wanted to choose another song for the video. We are staying in the same genre of holiday music but going in a different direction with the song choice. We have several reasons for the change. One major one is that the song is heavily romance based. We want to make our video about a friend group, so it wouldn’t make sense to have a romantic song. Additionally, the song starts off very slowly. Our first few scenes are of a character picking up the other two characters from their house and talking in the car. It wouldn’t work with the slow intro of the song.

We have a few options for a replacement but we are undecided at the moment. The experience is very expensive, so my main goal is to make it count. We also decided to cut down on the amount of actors we had due to costs. This will make filming difficult, but we are going to do a trial run and see how it goes. We need to take as many shots as possible to get our money’s worth.

No One Likes a Third Wheel, But Now We’re a Car!

For the previous projects, I have continuously worked with Joshua Newell and Aidan Jones. I have found that working with them has produced consistently good work. We are able to communicate well and our schedules coincide, allowing us to get a lot of work done. While all of this is true, our group decided to add another member to the mix. We have decided to team up with Randy Sweeting.     There were several reasons why we wanted to add another member to the group. Most of them came from our last project. When filming the music video, we had trouble splitting the work load. It was a bigger project than the first, and we wanted to include more actors. This posed a challenge to the three of us, because we would all have to be present on camera. Additionally, we wanted a different perspective. The three of us agree on a lot of things. As a result, we sometimes miss out on better ideas or more efficient practices because we are so likeminded.  ...

Get Your Popcorn.. Let’s Watch A Movie

Now that the group has chosen what genre and concept we want our final project to be, it’s time to watch a few films that follow the conventions of the sports genre. Today’s film will be Creed 2, directed by Steven Caple Jr. and starring Michael B. Jordan alongside Sylvester Stallone. What elements (Conventions) of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this  movie have?   The elements of this picture that relate to our genre would be that it is louder, grander, and greater than the first one. By maintaining an emphasis on the humanity of its main characters, it is able to correct itself. More than any punch delivered in the ring, whether Rocky will see his son again and the tribulations of the recent Creed couple are the subjects of greater suspense. The boxing scenes are fascinating and fun. Also, it gives fans a feast of entertainment.  What elements (Conventions) of the genre did the movie have that you like?  I enjoy how Adonis and Viktor...

On the Nice List

Upon further inspection, our footage wasn’t as bad as I described. We had a lot of salvageable shots. As a result, we are going to keep the footage we have already taken. However, we are going to go back to the park to take some simple shots to make the beginning less choppy. Thankfully, we won’t have to pay to be in the area of the park we have to film this at.  Plans to reshoot went well. We got the basic shots we needed to fill out certain spots in the video. Now, it’s time to edit. We choose to split up the work between us. This was to ensure that each of us had a say in the vision for the video. Splitting the work also alleviates the burden of editing it all by one’s self.  Unfortunately, the equipment I was using didn’t allow me to work with computer software to edit the video. The laptop I had was broken and unreliable, so I went back to the editing software I used in the previous project. I started by putting all the takes we took in a big project and muting each...
