All I Want for Christmas is a Music Video

 The song that we have chosen for our music video is Mariah Carey ' All I Want for Christmas is You'. 

  • In most music videos an idea or theme is represented through the actors, objects, and props throughout various different scenes. The scenes in this video can take place at different places occurring at the same time, or follow a "storyline" with the music helping emphasize the story portrayed through the song. A traditional music video convention is to mainly focus on the artist or band performing solo or in front of an audience. There is not plot, only a collection of camera angles and movements. In general, the objective of a music video is to help visualize what the song by itself couldn't. 
  • Music videos overall are used with various camera angles, shots, editing, and movements to create certain feelings, express different genres and explore all the themes and different messages of a song. Although the primary purpose of music videos are used to promote the sales of musical recordings, many take on a different approach and allow for artistic freedom with the film. This has allowed for new and unique ideas to take place which incorporate both elements of film as well as musical components. 
  • The Mis-en-scene for music videos includes elements including lighting, props, clothing, hair and makeup, setting, and color. The genre and aesthetic of the music video typically dictate these elements. These factors are very significant in terms of contributing to the chosen genre. They are used in music videos to emphasize how significant the characters are. They are also used in many ways to portray characters.
  • In most Christmas music videos there are heavy usage of shots like a two-shot, medium close up, and wide shots to establish the general feeling of Christmas. The overall similarity between all these videos is the theme of happy times with family members or loved ones. The strength of Christmas music videos are the use of nostalgia and emotion conveyed in the video through the lyrics. Great example of some Christmas music video's are Wham's "Last Christmas, Michael Bublé's "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" and both of Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas" videos. 
In today's day and age most songs are usually accompanied by a music video, creating a visual impact that is just as important as the song itself. It allows for a new perspective to be gained from the song as well as to show the artistic talent behind a director, an artist, and their work.

       For the previous projects, I have continuously worked with Joshua Newell and Aidan Jones. I have found that working with them has produced consistently good work. We are able to communicate well and our schedules coincide, allowing us to get a lot of work done. While all of this is true, our group decided to add another member to the mix. We have decided to team up with Randy Sweeting.     There were several reasons why we wanted to add another member to the group. Most of them came from our last project. When filming the music video, we had trouble splitting the work load. It was a bigger project than the first, and we wanted to include more actors. Get Your Popcorn.. Let’s Watch A Movie

 Now that the group has chosen what genre and concept we want our final project to be, it’s time to watch a few films that follow the conventions of the sports genre. Today’s film will be Creed 2, directed by Steven Caple Jr. and starring Michael B. Jordan alongside Sylvester Stallone. What elements (Conventions) of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this  movie have?   The elements of this picture that relate to our genre would be that it is louder, grander, and greater than the first one. By maintaining an emphasis on the humanity of its main characters, it is able to correct itself. More than any punch delivered in the ring, whether Rocky will see his son again and the tribulations of the recent Creed couple are the subjects of greater suspense. On the Nice List

 Upon further inspection, our footage wasn’t as bad as I described. We had a lot of salvageable shots. As a result, we are going to keep the footage we have already taken. However, we are going to go back to the park to take some simple shots to make the beginning less choppy. Thankfully, we won’t have to pay to be in the area of the park we have to film this at.  Plans to reshoot went well. We got the basic shots we needed to fill out certain spots in the video. Now, it’s time to edit. We choose to split up the work between us. This was to ensure that each of us had a say in the vision for the video. Splitting the work also alleviates the burden of editing it all by one’s self.  Unfortunately, the equipment I was using didn’t allow me to work with computer software to edit the video.
