•Common camera angles in your genre (CAMS) camera angles, movement, shots


Close-up, medium, and long shots are the most typical camera angles. A close-up often focuses on a single item, most frequently the face of a person. It separates that thing from its surrounds and draws the viewer's focus to it. A medium shot is composed with the camera placed further away from the subject and, as a result, includes some of the surrounds that a close-up will omit. A long shot is used to convey a lot of background information because the camera is placed far from the subject.


• Common Mis-En-Scene in your genre (CLAMPS) Mis-En-scene

Common Mis-En-Scenes in a rom-com consist of a setting that would be a realistic situation like a mall, park, apartment, or a school. The props would consist of hearts, jewelry, flowers, chocolates, and wine. The costume would depend on the script and how the director would depict his characters status which would reflect their clothing.


• Common Editing in your genre


editing methods include Straight Cuts and Cross Cuts. Cross cuts are a technique used to show an action occurring between two different locations. Straight Cuts are utilized to maintain the story's consistency and make it flow smoothly. Additionally, the speed of edition will be slow, but there are small but major alterations made throughout the movie. For instance, the editing speed will start to quicken when the protagonists in the movie begin to fall in love, giving the impression that time is passing more quickly.


• Common sound in your genre

Common sound in a rom-com would be ambient sound with the background noise, Diegetic sound to have audio on what’s going on in scenes, Nom- diegetic sound for example a soundtrack for a trailer, dialogue between characters, and a sound bridge to link two scenes.


• Example films of your genres

Some example films would be “you people”, ”Marry me”, and “Ticket to paradise”.

Elements of the genre of the genre would be the funny moments it has but also how it is able to keep a on line script in telling and developing a story.


Elements of the genre that don’t appeal to me would be the over use of jokes and not having an equal balance. This has been seen before with many romances not really being romantic and mainly a comedy. It’s as if they try to fit a romantic setting over a comedy setting.

On the Nice List

 Upon further inspection, our footage wasn’t as bad as I described. We had a lot of salvageable shots. As a result, we are going to keep the footage we have already taken. However, we are going to go back to the park to take some simple shots to make the beginning less choppy. Thankfully, we won’t have to pay to be in the area of the park we have to film this at.  Plans to reshoot went well. We got the basic shots we needed to fill out certain spots in the video. Now, it’s time to edit. We choose to split up the work between us. This was to ensure that each of us had a say in the vision for the video. Splitting the work also alleviates the burden of editing it all by one’s self.  Unfortunately, the equipment I was using didn’t allow me to work with computer software to edit the video. A Slight Detour

       The current weather has presented a major obstacle in our filming process. Because the entirety of the work is set outdoors at a sunny volleyball field, the constant rain has made it impossible to get new footage. To work in these conditions, we may have to scrap the entire draft we currently have so that all the scenes match. Alternatively, we would have to rewrite the ending to provide an explanation for the setting. Seeing as half the project is already completely edited, I'm much more inclined to choose the second option. The entire situation is extremely disappointing considering that this project is arguably one of our better works.  Regardless of the obstacles we're currently facing, we will take any opportunity we can to film today.      The footage that we currently have was not easy to edit. Creative Critical Reflection - Script

1 . How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?     A Spike of Luck uses modern clothing, music, and dialogue to represent teens today. More specifically athletes, as both characters are volleyball players.  The premise of the project revolves around two black teenage boys. As a result, their motives in the movie should be considered through that lens. In the project, we see MJ, played by Randy Sweeting, primarily on his own. Unless he is training with Ryan, played by Joshua Newell, he drives alone and greets no one when he gets home. It is implied that he does not necessarily have anyone looking out for him, seeing as he only interacts with Ryan to train and he ends up being late to tryouts at the end of the film. This provides a possible motive to why he is so motivated to join the team and is representative of how many teens join sports for comradery.      The primary convention of the sports genr...
