Hey Mr.Dj - Project Preparation

The team has been working very hard in preparation of the film. While we haven’t started filming yet, we have watched several films to help us form a better idea of what we want to do. Each movie sets up the mood, idea, and setting in a different way. A major way that they do this is through sound, and more specifically music. Because of this common theme, our group has been examining different songs we can include to enhance our project. The group has looked at several songs coming from different genres to see what would best work for our project. The requirements to put a song into consideration for the project included a generally positive feel with simple lyrics. This led us to songs like Hell n' Back by Bakar.\, Malibu by Anderson Paak, and California Girls by Katy Perry.  These songs are mainly being considered for the opening. More deliberation is needed to determine what songs and sound editing will end up in the final film.

Though they were all listed together, these songs are not necessarily measured equally with our goals. The Katy Perry song is definitely more considered a last resort to keep in mind. The first two are more equally matched. Regardless of what we decide should be included in the film, we must refrain from any infringement of copyright. Ignoring the copyright on the songs used in the project could render it completely upgradeable, so it's important we keep it in mind.

Our next course of action was to coordinate our schedules so we could get the project done. Each of us are very busy, but we want to prioritize finishing the project before anything else. One thing that makes it a little easier is that half the team mainly operates in one unit in terms of scheduling, so it cuts the confusion in half. Still, we all work in addition to our school activities, so remaining organized is very important. We plan to film the project over the course of at least three days. Each day will consist of a different amount of actors and locations. A majority of the project will be preferably filmed on the weekend when we don't have to worry about school. The goal of the filming days is to make sure the actors are comfortable and that the filming process isn't strenuous. While we don't have a set schedule of how filming will take place, this will be cleared up once we get the first few scenes out of the way. We plan on filming at the beach, a volleyball court, and in different areas in Fort Lauderdale for landscape clips. Once filming is complete, a rough draft will be compiled and the editing process can finally start. A major goal of mine when we film is to get as much footage as possible, so we don't run into some of the issues we encountered on our last project.

No One Likes a Third Wheel, But Now We’re a Car!

For the previous projects, I have continuously worked with Joshua Newell and Aidan Jones. I have found that working with them has produced consistently good work. We are able to communicate well and our schedules coincide, allowing us to get a lot of work done. While all of this is true, our group decided to add another member to the mix. We have decided to team up with Randy Sweeting.     There were several reasons why we wanted to add another member to the group. Most of them came from our last project. When filming the music video, we had trouble splitting the work load. It was a bigger project than the first, and we wanted to include more actors. This posed a challenge to the three of us, because we would all have to be present on camera. Additionally, we wanted a different perspective. The three of us agree on a lot of things. As a result, we sometimes miss out on better ideas or more efficient practices because we are so likeminded.  ...

Get Your Popcorn.. Let’s Watch A Movie

Now that the group has chosen what genre and concept we want our final project to be, it’s time to watch a few films that follow the conventions of the sports genre. Today’s film will be Creed 2, directed by Steven Caple Jr. and starring Michael B. Jordan alongside Sylvester Stallone. What elements (Conventions) of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this  movie have?   The elements of this picture that relate to our genre would be that it is louder, grander, and greater than the first one. By maintaining an emphasis on the humanity of its main characters, it is able to correct itself. More than any punch delivered in the ring, whether Rocky will see his son again and the tribulations of the recent Creed couple are the subjects of greater suspense. The boxing scenes are fascinating and fun. Also, it gives fans a feast of entertainment.  What elements (Conventions) of the genre did the movie have that you like?  I enjoy how Adonis and Viktor...

On the Nice List

Upon further inspection, our footage wasn’t as bad as I described. We had a lot of salvageable shots. As a result, we are going to keep the footage we have already taken. However, we are going to go back to the park to take some simple shots to make the beginning less choppy. Thankfully, we won’t have to pay to be in the area of the park we have to film this at.  Plans to reshoot went well. We got the basic shots we needed to fill out certain spots in the video. Now, it’s time to edit. We choose to split up the work between us. This was to ensure that each of us had a say in the vision for the video. Splitting the work also alleviates the burden of editing it all by one’s self.  Unfortunately, the equipment I was using didn’t allow me to work with computer software to edit the video. The laptop I had was broken and unreliable, so I went back to the editing software I used in the previous project. I started by putting all the takes we took in a big project and muting each...
