After our first attempt at filming, the group realized that we had to work more things out about our project before we try filming again. With spring break upon us, we were thankfully able to get a lot of things done. Our main focus was the CLAMPS of the project as well as the editing. I reviewed several new editing applications to see if I could incorporate something new into the process. For the past two projects, I used Video Leap for the majority of the editing. While I have no issue with using the program again, something new could provide me with more unique effects that I otherwise would not have access to. I ran some of the scenes we did shoot through several applications to see what things could be changed. Because we are so early in the filming process, I'm unsure of what to cut from the footage at this time. However, I still played around with color and sound to give myself a general idea of what I will do in the future.
While I was looking at editing software, I realized I needed to find music to include in the project. I sent a few emails to the owners of the Master Use and Synchronization Licenses for the song Hell N Back. The song comes from independent artist Bakar, who co-produced it with a production collective that has worked with stars like Kendrick Lamar. I am currently awaiting their response. If they do allow us to use the song for our project, I feel it will be a great addition to the opening.
The actors will all be dressed in modern athletic wear. Since we will be spending a lot of time outside, it's important that we are all comfortable. There will be very minimal makeup use, but sunscreen will definitely be provided on set. Each character is an athlete regardless of their varying skill levels. Therefore, their outfits must reflect that.
The props in the film are the obvious volleyball and net. We might give the characters objects like backpacks and water bottles for realism. Certain things like that are undecided as they are just included to add an authentic feel to the film. With these details ironed out, I'm hoping that the filming process will go by much smoother.
