A Slight Detour

The current weather has presented a major obstacle in our filming process. Because the entirety of the work is set outdoors at a sunny volleyball field, the constant rain has made it impossible to get new footage. To work in these conditions, we may have to scrap the entire draft we currently have so that all the scenes match. Alternatively, we would have to rewrite the ending to provide an explanation for the setting. Seeing as half the project is already completely edited, I'm much more inclined to choose the second option. The entire situation is extremely disappointing considering that this project is arguably one of our better works.  Regardless of the obstacles we're currently facing, we will take any opportunity we can to film today.

The footage that we currently have was not easy to edit. Without any cuts, it was already too close to the required time. After some cutting and arrangement, the opening and training montage sat at one minute and 25 seconds. After waiting for several days, we received no response for the songs we wanted to include in the film. As a result, we used royalty-free music from Youtube and Pixabay. I added the music to the intro and the training montage. The added sound ramped up the energy of the montage significantly. I tried to edit the clips so that they would match the beat of the song as well as possible. I then added the titles and names of those who worked on the project. I used transitions and tracking technology to make their appearance more interesting.

Today, we plan on finishing the filming process entirely. For the sake of time, and in part due to the weather, we are going to change the ending. The previously written ending would require an indoor volleyball court. We could not get one on such short notice, so we are going to continue to use the set we currently have. Hopefully, this does not present any new obstacles for us. After the filming is done, I will start editing the new footage immediately to connect it to the previous work and finish off the film.

No One Likes a Third Wheel, But Now We’re a Car!

For the previous projects, I have continuously worked with Joshua Newell and Aidan Jones. I have found that working with them has produced consistently good work. We are able to communicate well and our schedules coincide, allowing us to get a lot of work done. While all of this is true, our group decided to add another member to the mix. We have decided to team up with Randy Sweeting.     There were several reasons why we wanted to add another member to the group. Most of them came from our last project. When filming the music video, we had trouble splitting the work load. It was a bigger project than the first, and we wanted to include more actors. This posed a challenge to the three of us, because we would all have to be present on camera. Additionally, we wanted a different perspective. The three of us agree on a lot of things. As a result, we sometimes miss out on better ideas or more efficient practices because we are so likeminded.  ...

Get Your Popcorn.. Let’s Watch A Movie

Now that the group has chosen what genre and concept we want our final project to be, it’s time to watch a few films that follow the conventions of the sports genre. Today’s film will be Creed 2, directed by Steven Caple Jr. and starring Michael B. Jordan alongside Sylvester Stallone. What elements (Conventions) of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this  movie have?   The elements of this picture that relate to our genre would be that it is louder, grander, and greater than the first one. By maintaining an emphasis on the humanity of its main characters, it is able to correct itself. More than any punch delivered in the ring, whether Rocky will see his son again and the tribulations of the recent Creed couple are the subjects of greater suspense. The boxing scenes are fascinating and fun. Also, it gives fans a feast of entertainment.  What elements (Conventions) of the genre did the movie have that you like?  I enjoy how Adonis and Viktor...

Title Design and Sequence

After reviewing several opening scenes for films that fall under the sports genre, the time had come for the group to design our own title sequence. When doing this, I took into account all the things I learned during the research process. I found that there were several key features that needed to be included in the title design an sequence. The most important feature was the fact that the title design and sequence had to convey the overall mood and theme of the project. Our project is focused on the relationship between two teen boys and their different relationships with the sport volleyball. While the sport is the most important aspect of the project, there are comedic elements as it is meant for teenagers. Based on this information, the title sequence should feature fun, light hearted motifs like physical effects and fun sound.       Additionally, the title design and sequence should also reflect the intensity of the sport. To achieve t...
